MUNFORDVILLE — A former Hart County deputy clerk accused of stealing cash from multiple customers pleaded guilty to a lesser charge Tuesday in Hart County Circuit Court.
Chelsea Trulock of Munfordville pleaded guilty to one count of theft by unlawful taking over $500, which was amended down from a charge of theft by unlawful taking over $10,000.
A charge of abuse of public trust was dismissed, said Justin Baird, who is Trulock’s attorney.
The commonwealth recommended a sentence of five years, which was probated for a period of five years, he said.
As part of the conditions of her probation, Trulock will be required to pay $14,069.49 in restitution to the Hart County sheriff, who will then distribute the money to those it is owed.
Trulock was arrested in September 2017 on a Hart County indictment warrant for theft by unlawful taking over $10,000 but under $100,000, and abuse of public trust over $10,000 but less than $100,000.
